The Patient Service Admitting position at Salem Clinic Main, located at 2020 Capitol St NE, Salem, OR, is a part-time role that integrates the importance of interpersonal skills with administrative excellence. These professionals are the welcoming face of the clinic, often the first point of contact for patients arriving for appointments or urgent medical services. The position offers a flexible part-time schedule, averaging 7.25 hours per week, primarily covering every other weekend shifts from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or 5:30 p.m. to accommodate patient needs. Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- experience in a fast paced, customer service oriented environment or office setting
- ability to perform data entry in electronic health record, patient management system, laboratory information system and radiology PAC systems
- ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and courteously
- ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instruction
- ability to work in a fast paced environment while maintaining accuracy
- knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation
- ability to pass required spelling and typing tests
- must be able to work flexible hours and shifts and be available for weekend rotation and holidays
- must be detail oriented and able to prioritize multiple tasks
- ability to work independently and as part of a team
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Greet patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner
- obtain referrals if needed for coordination of insurance benefits
- make appointments for patients per protocol, ability to explain procedure prep in an understandable manner to patients
- check in patients, verify and update necessary information in the medical record
- input pertinent demographics, insurance information, and appointment data into automated appointment system and on patient processing documents as needed
- use of electronic health record system, LIS and CLSA
- refer patients to credit or business office for clarification of insurance coverage as needed
- refer to patient & provider relations for resolution of disputes and/or patient concerns as needed
- observe waiting areas and reassure patients awaiting service for lengthy periods of time
- notify licensed medical and/or nursing personnel of patient emergencies, need for assistance, or lengthy waits
- distribute and/or assist patient in completion of forms
- answer telephones promptly and courteously, identifying yourself to callers
- ability to work with a computer and view screen for long periods
- cover holidays that fall within days scheduled when urgent care is open
