The role of a Patient Access Representative at Adventist Health Bakersfield is pivotal in delivering exceptional service to all patients. This position functions as the welcoming face of the organization, responsible for greeting and navigating patients and their guests efficiently in the registration lobby. Acting as a critical link between patients and clinical teams, the Patient Access Representative ensures a smooth and streamlined check-in process, facilitating timely patient flow and reducing wait times. This role demands a professional demeanor combined with strong communication skills to effectively follow AIDET guidelines and uphold the organization’s patient experience standards. The representative also takes a proactive approach, anticipating patient needs and resolving concerns in real-time, enhancing overall satisfaction.

In addition to personal interaction, the Patient Access Representative oversees the daily operations of the front desk and lobby area, maintaining a clean and organized environment that supports the comfort of patients and families. Job Requirements

  • High school education or GED preferred
  • associate’s or technical degree in hospitality or related experience preferred
  • three years' experience in patient access, hotel, restaurant, retail, or customer service preferred
  • previous patient access experience preferred
  • compliance with vaccination requirements as a condition of employment
  • ability to stand for extended periods
  • strong communication skills
  • willingness to work in a fast-paced environment

Job Qualifications

  • High school education or GED preferred

  • three years' experience in patient access, hotel, restaurant, retail, or customer service preferred
  • previous patient access experience preferred
  • excellent customer service skills
  • strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • ability to multitask and manage time effectively
  • familiarity with health care environment beneficial

Job Duties

  • Welcomes patients and family members in a professional manner
  • follows AIDET guidelines in all interactions and ensures adherence to patient experience expectations
  • oversees daily activities of the front desk and lobby areas including tidiness
  • greets patients upon arrival and navigates patient flow
  • assists with check-in process and monitors patient registration fast track tracker
  • tracks length of patient wait times and escalates delays to appropriate leaders
  • keeps patients informed of any potential delays
  • provides patient flow updates to patient access leadership
  • assists in resolving real-time patient concerns
  • anticipates patients' and family members' needs and addresses them in real time
  • performs other job-related duties as assigned
