The Patient Dining Manager position at Sodexo is based at Saint Raphael Campus, a 501-bed acute care hospital that plays a vital role in the New Haven healthcare community. This role offers an outstanding opportunity to lead and transform the patient dining experience within a large, fast-paced hospital environment. The Patient Dining Manager will oversee the delivery of high-quality, compassionate meal services to a diverse patient population. Leading a team of 25-30 union frontline employees, this role is essential in ensuring that patient dining operations run smoothly, efficiently, and with a strong focus on customer satisfaction. The manager will handle staff scheduling, payroll processing, and actively engage with patients through rounding to address concerns promptly.

This full-time position also involves collaborative work with other Patient Services Managers to promote continuous service improvement and operational excellence. The Patient Dining Manager works with advanced tools such as HealthTouch menu software to support day-to-day meal service activities. Job Requirements

  • Experience in healthcare food service, patient dining, or hospitality operations
  • Proven ability to lead engage and motivate frontline teams (union experience a plus)
  • Strong customer service and patient-focused mindset
  • Comfort with scheduling payroll systems and digital meal service platforms
  • Hands-on proactive leadership style with ability to adapt in a fast-paced setting
  • Flexibility to work a rotating schedule including weekends

Job Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 2 years management experience
  • Minimum of 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
  • Proven ability to lead, engage, and motivate frontline teams
  • Strong customer service and patient-focused mindset
  • Comfortable with scheduling, payroll systems, and digital meal service platforms
  • Hands-on, proactive leadership style with ability to adapt in fast-paced settings
  • Flexibility to work a rotating schedule including weekends

Job Duties

  • Oversee daily patient meal service operations within a bedside dining program
  • Lead and manage a team of 25-30 frontline union employees
  • Manage staff scheduling and payroll processing
  • Conduct patient rounding to ensure satisfaction and resolve concerns in real time
  • Serve as an opening or closing manager on a rotating schedule including some weekends
  • Collaborate with fellow Patient Services Managers to drive service excellence and continuous improvement
  • Support meal service operations utilizing HealthTouch menu software
