Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Completion of patient care technician course within three months of hire
  • Ability to provide basic patient care
  • Adherence to patient safety protocols
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to document accurately and timely
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to collaborate with healthcare team
  • Physical stamina required
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs to waist height

Job Qualifications

  • Proficiency in providing basic patient care
  • Adherence to patient safety protocols and guidelines
  • Effective communication skills
  • Accurate and timely documentation skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to collaborate with healthcare team members
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift 50 lbs to waist height
  • Experience in patient care in an acute care setting (preferred)
  • Experience with casting/splinting (preferred)
  • Experience with blood draws (preferred)

Job Duties

  • Collects and documents assessment data and provides patient education
  • Assist with patient physicals and lab draws
  • Responds to patient questions appropriately and addresses patient concerns
  • Interacts with and assists the public in a professional and friendly manner as needed
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills
  • communicates accurate and complete information
  • maintains strict confidentiality when necessary
  • Demonstrates positive working relationships with co-workers, management team, and ancillary departments
  • Follow the Core Concepts of Patient and Family Centered Care and the Basic Code of Conduct Guidelines
  • Provide medical coverage for UAMS-contracted sporting and racing events
  • Assist with administrative duties, including insurance verification/authorization and surgery scheduling
