We are currently seeking a dedicated Front Desk Receptionist to join our team at Optum’s location in Plymouth, MA. This is a full-time position with a schedule of Monday through Friday, from 8:30am to 5pm. The role offers an hourly pay range between $18 and $32, commensurate with experience, education, and local market factors. As the first point of contact for patients, the Front Desk Receptionist plays a critical role in ensuring a positive, welcoming experience by managing patient information, scheduling appointments, and facilitating smooth communication within the healthcare team. This key position requires customer service excellence, attention to detail in documentation, and strong organizational skills to navigate a fast-paced healthcare environment effectively.
In the role, you will be responsible for obtaining and verifying accurate patient information, scheduling and confirming appointments, handling telephone communications promptly and professionally, and managing referral documentation. You will also conduct patient outreach, coordinate follow-up services, and ensure the continuity of care by tracking appointments and maintaining accurate records in compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements. Working cohesively with multidisciplinary team members, you will contribute to implementing care plans and providing efficient patient support. This role demands a high level of precision, efficiency, and adherence to Optum’s employee policies and quality standards, all in a dynamic and high-volume setting.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- At least 1 year of receptionist experience in healthcare
- At least 1 year of EMR experience
- Access to reliable transportation
- Ability to work full-time Monday through Friday 8 30 am to 5 pm
- Willingness to comply with drug testing and background checks
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and complying with HIPAA and OSHA regulations
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum 1 year of receptionist experience in a healthcare setting
- Minimum 1 year of experience with electronic medical records (EMR)
- Experience with medical front office duties such as appointment scheduling insurance verification collecting co-pays and record maintenance preferred
- Knowledge of EPIC software preferred
- Ability to learn new software applications and attend training
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word Excel and Outlook
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks under pressure
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with healthcare providers
Job Duties
- Obtain accurate and updated patient information such as name address insurance information
- Obtain patient signatures for required documents
- Create and schedule appointments
- Answer incoming and outgoing telephone calls promptly and courteously
- Perform referral documentation promptly
- Perform follow-up services for patients including scheduling follow-up appointments and obtaining lab results or specialist reports
- Adhere to Optum employee policies and standards
- Meet targets for patient outreach
- Work cohesively with team members to achieve goals
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and OSHA requirements
- Manage care coordination through scheduling and tracking systems
- Provide effective communication to patients family and healthcare team
- Comply with administrative policies to ensure quality of care
- Perform efficient document scanning and management
- Perform other duties as assigned
