The Full-Time Patient and Family Concierge - Senior position at Magee Women's Hospital of UPMC is a vital role designed to enhance the patient and family experience within the Labor and Delivery unit. This position involves working rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, to ensure continuous support during all hours of operation. The Patient and Family Concierge - Senior is responsible for delivering compassionate and personalized service to patients, their families, and visitors, making their stay as comfortable and positive as possible. This role is unique in that it requires versatility; the individual will perform a wide range of duties ranging from destination coordination and environmental services to dietary assistance, transportation of patients, supply and equipment management, and administrative support.

In this multifaceted role, the Concierge Senior serves as an ambassador for the hospital, providing guidance, answering patient and visitor questions, and offering emotional support. The Concierge assists with practical tasks like escorting patients to different destinations within the hospital, helping with parking needs, and ensuring that patient belongings are safeguarded from admission onward. They also contribute to hospital operations by cleaning and organizing patient care areas, delivering meals according to dietary requirements while adhering to food safety standards, and facilitating the smooth and safe transport of patients and critical medical equipment.

Administrative responsibilities include managing patient scheduling, handling communications for the unit, processing necessary documentation, and supporting healthcare providers with various clerical tasks. The role also involves monitoring telehealth consult carts, coordinating virtual patient-provider interactions, and ensuring technology used in telemedicine is functioning properly.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or one year of previous job experience in lieu of diploma
  • Six months experience as a Patient and Family Concierge or equivalent
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
  • Ability to provide compassionate and exceptional patient and family service
  • Ability to work rotating shifts including weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 6 months experience as a Patient and Family Concierge or equivalent
  • Demonstrated competency in all responsibilities of the Patient and Family Concierge role
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Completion of at least one annual contribution such as committee participation or peer interviewer
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Job Duties

  • Greet patients and families warmly and provide destination coordination
  • Assist with environmental services including cleaning and organizing patient areas
  • Assemble and serve meals according to dietary orders
  • Transport patients and equipment safely and timely
  • Manage supply inventory and deliver supplies to patient units
  • Perform administrative support including scheduling and patient chart management
  • Coordinate telehealth consults and ensure telemedicine equipment functionality
