We are currently seeking a Full-Time Patient & Family Concierge Senior to join our Preoperative Clinic team. This role is designed for highly organized, patient-focused professionals who thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative setting. The position offers a consistent daylight schedule with no weekends or holidays, which promotes work-life balance. As a Patient & Family Concierge Senior, you will be an essential part of the preoperative process, supporting patients and their families throughout their experience. Your role will involve coordinating various operational tasks, ensuring smooth communication and coordination within the care team. Key responsibilities include greeting and assisting patients and families, navigating hospital policies, managing environmental and dietary services, providing transportation assistance, and supporting telehealth operations. You will also play a pivotal role in supply and equipment management and offer critical administrative support.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least six months experience in a patient concierge or related role
  • Demonstrated ability to perform concierge duties effectively
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Required Act 34 clearance
  • Ability to work full-time daytime schedule with no weekends or holidays

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or one year of previous job experience in lieu of HS diploma/GED
  • Six months of experience as a Patient & Family Concierge or equivalent
  • Demonstrated competency in all responsibilities of Patient & Family Concierge role
  • EPIC experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Completion of one annual contribution such as hospital/department committee participation, departmental project involvement, peer interviewing, or onboarding/precepting other Experience Concierges

Job Duties

  • Greet patients and families, provide directions and escort assistance, share patient information while maintaining confidentiality
  • Serve as a resource for hospital policies, visiting hours, and navigation
  • Issue parking validations, discounts, and patient scooters
  • Track patient belongings upon admission and assist with parking cashier functions
  • Clean and maintain assigned areas including patient rooms, public spaces, offices, and procedure areas
  • Remove trash, manage linens, replenish supplies, make beds, and ensure areas are safe and in good repair
  • Report maintenance concerns as needed
  • Assemble and deliver meals according to diet orders and patient needs
  • Follow food safety and sanitation standards
  • Operate food service equipment appropriately and ensure accurate patient identification during meal delivery
  • Safely transport patients, equipment, and specimens across units
  • Track transportation activity in systems/logs, inspect and disinfect equipment, and report issues or delays
  • Submit repair requests as needed
  • Manage inventory and organization of supplies and equipment
  • Stock patient rooms and clinical areas, monitor expiration dates, maintain logs, and coordinate with supply chain
  • Coordinate tests, procedures, and patient transport
  • Answer phones, manage communications, and complete EHR tasks including admissions, discharges, transfers, and order entry
  • Maintain charts, reports, schedules, and unit logs
  • Handle equipment requests, patient mail, audits, and general unit coordination
  • Respond to call lights under clinical direction, round regularly, support patient needs, and promote patient mobility
  • Maintain a clean, safe environment and adhere to infection control and reporting protocols
  • Demonstrate UPMC values and support patient portal navigation and education
  • Monitor telehealth requests in Epic, coordinate with providers, and facilitate virtual consults using telehealth equipment
  • Deliver, set up, disinfect, and maintain telehealth carts including routine testing and coordination with IT
