The role of Patient & Family Concierge at Magee - Women's Hospital of UPMC is vital in delivering an outstanding experience to patients, families, and visitors, particularly supporting the Emergency Department. This is a full-time position requiring flexibility, including working rotating shifts on weekends and holidays, to ensure continuous service coverage. The Concierge plays a diverse role that spans greeting and assisting visitors, coordinating patient destinations, supporting environmental and dietary services, assisting with patient transport, managing supplies and equipment, and facilitating telehealth appointments.
The primary objective of this position is to provide compassionate and thorough service that enhances patient satisfaction and supports the hospital's commitment to high-quality care from the first moment a patient or visitor arrives until their departure. The Concierge acts as an essential point of contact, offering directions, information, parking assistance, and general support while respecting patient confidentiality and hospital protocols. They also maintain cleanliness standards, assist with meal delivery, transport patients safely, and manage medical and non-medical supplies throughout the hospital units. Special duties include handling telehealth equipment to support virtual patient consultations, ensuring technology is prepared and functioning.

Job Requirements
- High School diploma or active enrollment in High School/GED program or one year of previous job experience in lieu of High School diploma or GED
- Desire, drive, and compassion to provide exceptional patient and family experience
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Must have Act 34 clearance
- Rotating weekend and holiday availability
- Ability to work full-time rotating shifts
Job Qualifications
- High School diploma or active High School/GED program enrollment or one year of previous job experience in lieu of diploma
- Previous healthcare or customer service experience is a plus but not required
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Compassion and a customer-service oriented attitude
Job Duties
- Greet patients and families warmly and provide direction and escort assistance
- Clean and organize assigned areas including patient rooms and public spaces
- Assemble and serve meals according to patient diet orders and food safety standards
- Transport patients, equipment, and specimens safely and accurately within the hospital
- Retrieve, set up, and maintain telehealth carts for virtual appointments
- Manage and deliver supplies, equipment, and materials to designated units
- Answer unit phones, respond to call lights, and engage with patients to assess needs
