UPMC St. Margaret is a renowned healthcare institution dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care through its diverse range of medical services and compassionate approach. Located in a community-focused environment, UPMC St. Margaret is part of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) network, known for its commitment to innovation, quality patient care, and academic excellence. The hospital prides itself on fostering a culture where communication, coordination, and compassion are integral to shaping the patient experience. With a focus on high acuity care, UPMC St. Margaret serves patients with complex medical needs through specialized units staffed by experienced professionals who prioritize holistic and patient-centered care.
The Patient and Family Concierge (PFC) role at UPMC St. Margaret is pivotal in enhancing the patient and family experience on the high acuity 3B unit. This position is designed for individuals who thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments and are passionate about supporting patients, families, and healthcare teams through effective communication and operational assistance. The PFC serves as a critical liaison, facilitating smooth patient flow and providing practical support that contributes directly to the overall efficiency and care quality of the unit. The role primarily involves working 12-hour day shifts, with scheduled weekend and holiday rotations, emphasizing reliability and teamwork. Floating or travel is not required for this position, providing stability in work location and hours.
The ideal candidate for the Patient and Family Concierge role possesses a strong desire to learn and grow within a healthcare setting and demonstrates compassion and attentiveness towards patients and their families. Responsibilities include welcoming and escorting patients and visitors, providing essential hospital information, coordinating patient belongings at admission, and maintaining a clean and organized environment within patient rooms and public areas. The PFC also manages essential supplies, supports dietary needs by preparing and serving meals, and ensures the safe transport of patients and equipment. Additionally, the concierge is involved in monitoring inventory, handling telehealth carts, responding to patient needs, and adhering strictly to safety protocols. These duties require a balance of interpersonal skills, organizational ability, and adherence to healthcare standards.
This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute meaningfully to patient care beyond clinical responsibilities, focusing on creating a supportive atmosphere for patients and families during their hospital experience. UPMC St. Margaret provides a collaborative work culture, ongoing training, and resources to support employee development. The Patient and Family Concierge position is essential for maintaining the flow and comfort within a critical care environment, making it a rewarding job for those committed to making a positive impact in healthcare.
