Job Description
Whole Woman's Health is a pioneering healthcare organization dedicated to transforming the experience of abortion care in the United States. With a resolute commitment to patient-centered services, the organization dispels the stigma often associated with sexual health by providing compassionate, expert medical care in a supportive environment. Whole Woman's Health is recognized as a leader in reproductive healthcare, advocating for trust, informed consent, and dignity within the framework of abortion services. The company fosters a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and accountability, ensuring that the hopes and needs of its patients remain at the core of every interaction and procedure. Within this forward-thinking environment, the organization cultivates a dynamic workplace where growth and professional development are encouraged, reflecting its dedication not only to medical excellence but also to a rigorous corporate culture that values education and ethical responsibility.
The Patient Advocate role at Whole Woman’s Health is a multifaceted position designed to provide comprehensive support across various medical and administrative functions within the practice. This role offers candidates the opportunity for specialized training in medical tasks that do not require formal certification or licensure, encompassing important areas such as pathology, laboratory operations, surgical assistance, ultrasounds, and gynecological sessions. Patient Advocates function as vital liaisons within the practice, interacting directly with patients across different touchpoints to facilitate smooth and empathetic care experiences while supporting the clinical and administrative teams.
Key responsibilities of the Patient Advocate include performing receptionist duties, managing patient intake and discharge procedures, handling financial transactions such as money counting and deposits, and assisting in clinical tasks like preparing charts and setting up examination rooms. The role involves assisting practitioners during gynecological exams, collecting and processing lab samples, running pathology tests under supervision, and supporting medical staff during surgical abortion procedures. Patient Advocates play a crucial role in patient comfort and emotional support before, during, and after procedures, including setting up procedure rooms, starting IVs, and monitoring recovery processes.
This position demands a well-rounded skill set including exceptional organizational and communication skills, a commitment to women’s health, and the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment. Flexibility, curiosity, and willingness to learn are highly valued traits, as the role provides exposure to a broad spectrum of administrative and medical duties within the reproductive healthcare field. The ideal candidate is bilingual in English and Spanish, possesses or is pursuing a bachelor’s degree, and demonstrates a passion for continuous learning and active participation in team-oriented educational opportunities.
Whole Woman's Health offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience and provides benefits such as a 401(k) plan with company matching, flexible work hours, family support programs, and various employee perks including discounts and virtual team activities. Emphasizing diversity and inclusion, the company welcomes applicants from all backgrounds and identities, fostering an equitable and supportive workplace. This description serves as a working document that may evolve to meet the changing needs of the company and its dedication to comprehensive, stigma-free reproductive health care.
