Job Requirements
- Ability to push, pull, and lift 50 lbs regularly
- prolonged standing and walking during shifts
- ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat
- ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally
- high school diploma
- willingness to work in a safety-sensitive position
- knowledge of insurance and Medicare guidelines
- ability to work under stress and meet deadlines
- basic computer proficiency including 10-key calculator usage
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma required
- 1-3 years clerical experience preferred
- customer service experience preferred
- knowledge of medical terminology and insurance plans preferred
- ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- excellent telephone etiquette
- strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- ability to work under stress and meet deadlines
- proficiency with various computer systems and 10-key calculator
- ability to establish positive working relationships with diverse stakeholders
Job Duties
- Serve as the first point of contact for patients entering the Emergency Department
- schedule patient appointments and handle registration procedures
- verify patient insurance benefits and perform pre-certification
- process financial clearance including pre-visit collections
- accurately obtain and enter patient data into the hospital record system
- maintain knowledge of insurance carriers, Medicare guidelines, and compliance with federal, state, and accreditation standards
- communicate effectively with patients, physicians, hospital staff and insurance companies while maintaining positive working relationships
