Job Requirements

  • high school diploma
  • 1-3 years clerical experience preferred
  • customer service experience preferred
  • ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • excellent telephone etiquette
  • ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with patients, physicians, hospital staff and insurance companies
  • strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • ability to work under stress and meet deadlines with high accuracy
  • knowledgeable with computer systems
  • ability to use 10-key calculator and computer keyboard
  • physical ability to push, pull or lift up to 50 lbs regularly
  • ability to stand and walk prolong periods
  • ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist and squat

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma required
  • 1-3 years clerical and customer service experience preferred
  • experience with medical terminology and insurance plans preferred
  • strong oral and written communication skills
  • excellent telephone etiquette
  • ability to establish positive working relationships
  • strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • ability to work under stress and meet deadlines
  • proficiency with computer systems and 10-key calculator

Job Duties

  • facilitate scheduling and registration of patients
  • perform benefit verification and pre-certification tasks
  • handle financial clearance including pre-visit collections
  • ensure accurate and complete patient data entry into medical records
  • maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance carriers and Medicare guidelines
  • communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and insurance companies
  • adhere to federal, state, and accreditation agency regulations
