Job Description
Our healthcare organization is committed to providing exceptional patient care through a dedicated and professional Patient Access team. We operate as a leading acute-care facility, aiming to deliver a seamless and compassionate experience for every patient who walks through our doors. Our institution values integrity, accuracy, and compliance with federal and state healthcare regulations while maintaining a patient-first approach. We understand that patient registration is more than just data entry; it is the first touchpoint in a patient's journey, making it critical to deliver excellent service and build trust from the outset.
The Patient Access Representative 1 (PAR1) role is essential in our patient registration process. This position is responsible for accurately registering inpatients, outpatients, and emergency room patients into the electronic medical record (EMR) system. The PAR1 ensures that all patient information is validated for accuracy, insurance coverage is verified, and that co-insurance, deductibles, and co-pays are calculated and collected when necessary. Attention to detail in authorization for services and cash balancing duties are key responsibilities of this role to support efficient billing and compliance.
In addition to administrative tasks, the PAR1 plays a vital role in enhancing the patient experience by demonstrating professional communication skills with patients, families, healthcare providers, and insurance companies. Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations, including EMTALA, HIPAA, HITECH, and other relevant laws, ensures compliant registration practices and protects patient rights and privacy. The role requires critical thinking to customize patient registrations based on individual circumstances and to navigate complex insurance requirements and financial collections effectively.
This is a full-time position that demands excellent customer service, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic healthcare environment. The Patient Access Representative 1 contributes directly to the efficiency and accuracy of hospital admissions and revenue cycle processes while supporting our organization's mission to provide best-in-class patient care and support. Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, the PAR1 upholds a professional demeanor and represents the Patient Access department with courtesy and respect at all times. This position is ideal for individuals who are detail-oriented, empathetic, and motivated to assist patients through their healthcare journey.
