The Pastry Cook role at Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants is essential to maintaining the high standards of quality and service the brand is known for. As a Pastry Cook, you will be responsible for preparing all pastry and bakery items according to precise quality, quantity, and presentation guidelines set by the Pastry Chef. Job Requirements
- 1 year of prior experience in pastry department or related supportive role preferred
- Food Handler Certification if applicable
- Ability to work independently and multitask in high-volume environment
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Commitment to upholding sanitation and safety standards
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
Job Qualifications
- 1 year of prior experience in the pastry department of a high-volume, full-service restaurant or supportive role preferred
- Time management and organizational ability required for high quality food production
- Ability to work with minimal direction or supervision to complete assigned tasks
- Food Handler Certification (if applicable)
- Ability to multitask in a dynamic environment
- Flexible schedule, able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays when needed
Job Duties
- Prepare all pastry items for the restaurant according to specifications
- Demonstrate, prepare, present and execute each menu item to restaurant standards
- Produce food on a timely basis and be well-educated regarding the menu
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work station area including tables, shelves, pastry, cooking, and refrigeration equipment
- Follow departmental policies as well as restaurant rules, regulations and policies set forth in the Employee Handbook and by management
- Report any maintenance or repairs needed to kitchen equipment
- Provide excellent quality and presentation of all food to guests
- Prevent spoiling and contamination of foods by implementing proper sanitation practices and ensuring compliance with health regulations
- Maintain a high level of cleanliness in kitchen facilities
- Take on responsibilities outside of this job post as needed
