The Pastry Supervisor position at The Woodlands Resort is a vital role within the culinary team responsible for ensuring the highest standards of quality and consistency in all baked goods served throughout the resort. This role requires expertise in baking a variety of desserts, including pastries, cookies, and specialty bakery items, while also focusing on creative recipe development and inventory management. As the leader of the pastry section, the Pastry Supervisor works closely with other kitchen staff to maintain smooth operations and excellent product presentation. This role demands attention to detail, strong leadership abilities, and a passion for culinary arts, particularly in pastry creation. The supervisor is also responsible for ordering supplies, meeting with customers for special orders, and ensuring all bakery operations comply with health and safety standards. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in a bakery or pastry kitchen preferred
  • Ability to follow recipes and prepare baked goods with consistency
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy items
  • Strong attention to detail and creativity

Job Qualifications

  • Hotel experience preferred
  • Finger/hand dexterity in order to operate food machinery with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry, or otherwise, move goods weighing a maximum of 100 lbs. on a continuous schedule with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences, such as effectively communicating with supervisors, coworkers, public etc

Job Duties

  • Support the management of the pastry section of a kitchen, working together with the other chefs
  • Prepare a variety of baked goods
  • Decorate and present pastries and baked goods in a tasteful and beautiful way
  • Monitor and order ingredients, supplies and equipment
  • Meet with customers to discuss custom-made desserts or baked goods for special occasions
  • Ensure the bakery section of the kitchen adheres to health and safety regulations
  • Identify staffing needs, help to recruit new personnel and train them
  • Develop new seasonal recipes and menus and keep up with the latest trends
