This role is for the position of Pastry Cook III within Kalahari Resorts & Conventions. The Pastry Cook III plays a critical role in support of the Pastry Sous Chef, managing the day-to-day pastry operations within the resort's bake shop. This position ensures the consistent preparation of exquisite baked goods for the company’s diverse restaurant outlets, food and beverage venues, and banquet services. Ideal candidates will possess a passion for creating visually appealing and delicious desserts that complement and enhance the overall culinary experience for guests.
As a crucial member of the culinary leadership team, the Pastry Cook III is expected to uphold and embody Kalahari’s "Lead with Love" promise. This includes mentoring, supporting, and inspiring fellow associates to maintain high standards of quality and guest service. Collaboration with the broader culinary team is essential to create seamless operations, maintain an organized and sanitary work environment, and ensure all pastry items are produced according to the company’s exacting standards. The role demands precision, creativity, and efficient time management as the Pastry Cook III contributes to the resort’s reputation for excellence.
The Pastry Cook III also assists with special event preparations by crafting decorated cakes, statuaries, and other ornamental pastries for receptions, parties, and large banquet events, showcasing artistic skill and attention to detail. Further responsibilities include maintaining the cleanliness and operating condition of all relevant equipment in the pastry kitchen by following preventative maintenance protocols and conducting regular inspections. This role requires the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, with flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Job Requirements
- State or local law may require a certificate upon completion of state-certified proper food handling certification
Job Qualifications
- An associate's degree in food and beverage and/or course certification from an accredited Culinary Institute
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, busy, and somewhat stressful environment
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines with particular attention to detail
- Must be able to work and be flexible with all shifts, weekends, and holidays
Job Duties
- Ensure that all food and beverage products are consistently prepared and served according to the restaurant's recipes, portioning, cooking and serving standards
- Help Pastry Sous Chef with decorative cakes, statuaries and ornaments for special events, parties, and banquets
- Ensure that all equipment is kept clean and kept in excellent working condition through personal inspection and by following the culinary preventative maintenance programs
