Job Description

Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center, located in Nashville, Tennessee, is a premier destination known not only for its world-class accommodations and sprawling indoor gardens but also for its dynamic culinary environment. As part of Marriott International’s extensive network of hospitality establishments, the resort is dedicated to delivering extraordinary guest experiences with a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and professional growth. The hotel's food and beverage division plays a pivotal role in its success by offering guests a wide array of high-quality dining options and exceptional service. This role is situated within this vibrant, bustling setting, where dedication to culinary excellence and teamwork are paramount.

The culinary associate position within the Food and Beverage category is designed for individuals who are passionate about food preparation and desire to grow their culinary skills in a supportive and innovative environment. This full-time, non-management role offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $24.00 to $25.71 and includes access to Rouxbe Cooking School’s renowned online culinary training platform. This partnership enables culinary associates of all skill levels to participate in comprehensive, self-paced training that enhances their culinary knowledge and practical skills. Employees are empowered to utilize these lessons immediately on the job, fostering career development and personal growth.

Responsibilities in this role involve preparing ingredients, including portioning, chopping, and storing food; washing and peeling fresh fruits and vegetables; and weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients accurately. Associates are expected to prepare and cook food according to precise recipes and quality standards, utilizing a variety of equipment like ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers. Maintaining food quality and safety is paramount, so associates test foods for proper cooking, monitor temperatures, and ensure hygienic kitchen practices including washing and disinfecting workstations and tools. The role also emphasizes teamwork, professionalism, and adherence to company policies, including safety protocols and uniform standards. Culinary associates are encouraged to support their team, communicate clearly, and contribute to a positive work environment.

Working at Gaylord Opryland Resort means joining a dedicated community of STARs—employees characterized by creativity, entrepreneurship, and heartfelt service. The resort promises more than just a job by offering endless career opportunities and a supportive culture that recognizes and celebrates individual talents and diverse backgrounds. Marriott International’s commitment to equal opportunity ensures a welcoming environment that values every associate’s unique perspectives and skills. This position offers a gateway into a hospitality career with potential advancement within the Gaylord Hotels family and Marriott’s global network, where associates are supported to be their best selves, belong to an amazing team, and cultivate their passions and skills.
