Job Description

The Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center, a premier Marriott International property, stands as a beacon of exceptional hospitality and culinary excellence nestled in the heart of the Rockies. This resort and convention center offers guests a unique blend of stunning mountain views and lavish accommodations, creating an immersive experience that goes beyond the traditional hotel stay. As part of the Marriott International family, Gaylord Rockies embodies the company's commitment to quality, innovation, and guest satisfaction. With a rich portfolio of brands under Marriott International, the resort is more than just a destination; it's a thriving community of dedicated professionals who strive to create memorable moments for every guest.

Focused on delivering extraordinary service, Gaylord Rockies collaborates with esteemed partners like the Rouxbe Cooking School to elevate the skills and career paths of its culinary associates. Through Rouxbe's self-paced online culinary training platform, culinary staff at the resort are empowered with access to hundreds of comprehensive lessons. These lessons are meticulously designed to be visually engaging and practically applicable, allowing associates at all experience levels to hone their culinary expertise and apply new techniques directly to their work in the kitchen. This partnership highlights Marriott's dedication to employee growth and continuous learning, offering invaluable resources for career advancement within the hospitality industry.

The Culinary Associate role at Gaylord Rockies Resort is integral to the resort's kitchen operations, involving a broad spectrum of food preparation and cooking duties that ensure every dish meets the highest standards of quality, taste, and presentation. Responsibilities include preparing ingredients through portioning, chopping, and proper storage, as well as washing and peeling fresh produce. Culinary associates work hands-on with measuring, mixing, and following recipes to prepare both cold and cooked foods using various kitchen equipment such as ovens, grills, stoves, and fryers. Testing food doneness and monitoring food quality throughout preparation are vital to maintaining dining excellence.

Beyond food preparation, associates play a key role in maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment. This involves washing and disinfecting kitchen surfaces, utensils, and equipment, ensuring all appliances are at the correct temperature, and adhering strictly to company safety and security policies. Culinary associates at Gaylord Rockies also engage in teamwork and communication, fostering a collaborative atmosphere that supports a positive and efficient workspace. Physical demands of the role include standing or sitting for long periods, reaching and bending as necessary, and the ability to lift or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds safely.

This position is ideal for individuals with at least one year of relevant culinary experience and a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Although supervisory experience is not required, associates are expected to follow directions closely and support their team proactively. The role offers a dynamic and supportive work environment where culinary associates can develop their skills, contribute to a world-class dining experience, and grow their careers within a globally recognized hotel brand.
