The role of Food Preparation and Cook at The Ritz-Carlton Charlotte is a full-time, non-management position vital to delivering the hotel’s signature luxury service and culinary standards. This role focuses on preparing and cooking food that meets exact recipes, quality benchmarks, and presentation standards, ensuring guests experience top-tier cuisine reflective of The Ritz-Carlton brand. Key responsibilities include ingredient preparation such as portioning, chopping, and storage, along with the safe and proper use of baking, measuring, and cooking equipment. Strict adherence to food safety and personal hygiene policies is mandatory, as is compliance with sanitation protocols to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment. The position involves monitoring appliance and food temperatures and promptly reporting any issues for resolution.

This position requires the worker to maintain professional conduct including wearing clean uniforms, handling proprietary information discreetly, and fostering positive communication and teamwork to meet shared goals. Physical demands include moving, lifting, and carrying objects up to 25 pounds, navigating uneven or slippery surfaces, as well as standing or walking for extended periods. Job Requirements

  • Less than 1-year related work experience

Job Duties

  • Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality and presentation standards, and food prep checklists
  • Prepare ingredients for cooking including portioning, chopping, and storing food before use
  • Safely and appropriately use baking and measuring tools, equipment, and appliances to prepare baked foods
  • Follow and ensure compliance with food safety handling policies and procedures including personal hygiene
  • Check and ensure correct temperatures of kitchen appliances and food, and report issues to management
  • Wash and disinfect kitchen area, set-up and break-down work station, and follow and ensure compliance with sanitation and cleaning procedures
  • Monitor the quality of food prepared and portions served throughout shift
