Job Description
Marriott International is a world-renowned hospitality company, known for its dedication to delivering exceptional guest experiences across a broad portfolio of hotels and resorts worldwide. The Autograph Collection, a distinctive segment of Marriott International, represents a curated group of four and five-star independent hotels, each embodying unique character, exceptional quality, and bold originality. The collection is designed to attract "The Individualist," a traveler who seeks rich, memorable experiences that contribute to their personal narratives. Each Autograph Collection hotel offers travelers a combination of luxury, distinct ambiance, and an inspiring sense of adventure, setting it apart as a premier choice for both personal and corporate travel. With a strong commitment to inclusion, diversity, and equal opportunity employment, Marriott International fosters a supportive environment where associates can thrive, collaborate, and contribute to the brand's success while growing their own careers.
Within this prestigious environment, the Lido House Autograph Collection in Newport Beach, California, is actively seeking a motivated and skilled Culinary Associate to join its food and beverage team. This full-time, non-management role offers a competitive hourly wage of $29.20 and provides the unique opportunity to enhance culinary knowledge through a partnership with the Rouxbe Cooking School. This partnership delivers engaging, self-paced online culinary training programs tailored to associates of all experience levels. The Culinary Associate will enjoy access to hundreds of professionally crafted lessons designed to enhance practical skills that can be immediately applied on the job.
The role primarily involves preparing and cooking food according to established recipes, adhering to quality and presentation standards, and following food preparation checklists to ensure consistency and excellence. Responsibilities include ingredient preparation such as portioning, chopping, and proper food storage, as well as the safe and effective use of baking and measuring instruments and appliances. The associate must strictly observe food safety protocols, maintain personal hygiene standards, and comply with sanitation and cleaning policies to promote a safe and hygienic kitchen environment.
This position requires diligent monitoring of kitchen appliance temperatures and food safety conditions, with timely reporting of any issues to management. The Culinary Associate will be instrumental in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen workstations by washing, disinfecting, setting up, and breaking down stations each shift. An additional focus is placed on consistently monitoring the quality of food and portion control throughout the work period to exceed guest expectations.
Beyond technical culinary skills, this role emphasizes adherence to company policies including safety, security, confidentiality, and professionalism in appearance and communication. The associate will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, contributing to a positive team environment and supporting collective goals. Physical requirements of the position include the ability to handle materials up to 25 pounds, navigate various surfaces safely, and maintain endurance through extended periods of standing, sitting, or walking. The Culinary Associate must be flexible to undertake other reasonable duties as assigned by supervisors, reflecting a dynamic and collaborative work atmosphere.
This opportunity is ideal for individuals seeking to develop a career in culinary arts within a globally recognized hospitality brand. The partnership with Rouxbe Cooking School provides invaluable career growth through advanced education, supporting Marriott's commitment to investing in its associates' professional development. The Lido House Autograph Collection offers not only a rewarding role in a vibrant culinary setting but also the chance to be part of a team that values diversity, creativity, and exceptional hospitality standards. Join Marriott International to do your best work, begin your purpose, belong to an inspiring global community, and become the best version of yourself.
