The open position is a full time, non-management Bread and Pastry Cook role at The Ritz-Carlton Denver. The position offers a competitive hourly wage of $26.38. As a Bread and Pastry Cook, you will play a crucial role in preparing a variety of baked goods such as breads and pastries. Responsibilities include preparing doughs and fillings, proofing, baking, and decorating items according to recipes and quality standards. You will also review daily production sheets to ensure the variety and quality of baked goods meet expectations. Precision in food preparation and maintaining adherence to food safety guidelines are essential aspects of this position.
This role involves using baking tools and equipment safely and efficiently, monitoring kitchen logs for food safety program compliance, and communicating excess food items to the Chef for daily specials planning. Additionally, you will assist in maintaining kitchen hygiene, checking temperatures of appliances and food, and reporting maintenance issues to management. Maintaining quality and portion control throughout your shift is expected to ensure guest satisfaction.
While this role is non-management, you are expected to support operations by respecting company policies on safety, security, and confidentiality. You will represent the company through a professional appearance and demeanor and communicate clearly with team members and management. The environment requires physical endurance such as standing, sitting, walking for extended periods, and safely lifting and moving objects up to 25 pounds. Working on various surfaces and performing physical actions like bending and stooping are also part of daily duties.
Although no supervisory experience is required, candidates with technical, trade, or vocational education and a minimum of two years of related experience will thrive in this position. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 2 years of experience in baking or pastry preparation
- Ability to work full time
- Physical ability to stand sit or walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift and move objects up to 25 pounds
- Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
- Ability to follow directions and work in a team environment
Job Qualifications
- Technical trade or vocational school degree
- At least 2 years of related work experience

Job Duties
- Prepare breads and pastries including doughs and fillings proofing baking and decorating as appropriate
- Review production sheet to understand variety of baked goods to be produced daily
- Prepare and cook food according to recipes quality and presentation standards and food prep checklists
- Maintain kitchen logs for food safety program compliance
- Keep Chef informed of excess food items for planning of daily specials
- Safely and appropriately use baking and measuring tools equipment appliances to prepare baked foods
- Follow and ensure compliance with food safety handling policies and procedures including personal hygiene procedures
