Job Description
Uchiko Miami Beach is a renowned restaurant recognized for its bold culinary approach and exceptional dining experiences. Part of the Hai Hospitality group, Uchiko is an offspring of the award-winning Uchi concept crafted by James Beard Award-winning chef Tyson Cole. This innovative and dynamic restaurant blends traditional Japanese flavors with smoky, charred elements to deliver a unique and exciting menu that stands out in the vibrant Miami Beach culinary scene. Uchiko’s reputation is built on its commitment to quality, creativity, and a welcoming atmosphere, making it not only a favorite among food enthusiasts but also a sought-after workplace for culinary professionals.
As a Pastry Cook at Uchiko Miami Beach, you will play an essential role in the kitchen team, contributing to the creation of high-quality desserts and sweet dishes that enhance our guests' dining experiences. This position involves morning to mid-afternoon shifts, typically from 7 am to 3 pm, allowing a balanced work schedule. You will focus on key aspects of pastry production, including baking, sauce preparation, and chocolate work, among other specialized dessert tasks. Previous experience in pastry production is highly preferred to ensure a strong foundation for creating delectable and visually impressive desserts. This role offers more than just employment; it provides an opportunity for long-term career growth within an exciting and expanding restaurant group.
The compensation package for this role is competitive, with an hourly wage range of $19 to $21, depending on experience, complemented by a significant $1,500 sign-on bonus. This bonus is paid in two installments—$750 after 90 days post-training and another $750 after six months—highlighting the company’s commitment to rewarding its dedicated employees. Uchiko Miami Beach also offers comprehensive benefits that support the well-being and professional development of its team members.
Working at Uchiko means joining a passionate and innovative team where growth and learning are encouraged. Our hospitality group, Hai Hospitality, is based in Austin, Texas and operates multiple acclaimed restaurant concepts across several major cities including Austin, Houston, Dallas, Denver, Miami, Los Angeles, and Scottsdale. We pride ourselves on fostering an inclusive workplace culture that values diversity, creativity, and collaboration. Employees at Uchiko benefit from unique opportunities, such as cultural ambassador trips to sister locations, knife reimbursement programs, and inclusive tasting processes for new specials. Additionally, we support the ongoing education of our staff with reimbursements for sommelier, cicerone, and sake professional certifications, further enriching their culinary skills.
At Uchiko Miami Beach, employees enjoy a range of insurance options—medical, dental, vision, accident, and even pet insurance—reflecting our commitment to comprehensive care. Mental health and wellness are prioritized through our Employee Assistance Program, and financial security is bolstered by an employer-matched 401(k) savings plan. We also understand the importance of work-life balance and camaraderie, which is why daily family meals, dining discounts, and monthly dining stipends are provided to foster a sense of community and appreciation. Our working environment is fast-paced yet supportive, challenging team members to excel while providing the tools and resources needed for success.
If you are a dedicated pastry professional looking for a place to grow your career and be part of a leading restaurant group with a rich heritage and innovative spirit, Uchiko Miami Beach is the perfect place for you. This position not only offers a rewarding work environment but also the chance to be part of a larger hospitality family committed to excellence and progressive employment practices, including reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities.
