Job Requirements

  • Belief in and adherence to the statement of faith and mission of the Navigators
  • high school diploma or equivalent vocational training certificate
  • minimum of 1-2 years of experience as pastry cook
  • certification of culinary training or apprenticeship preferred
  • food handling certificate required

Job Duties

  • Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment
  • use equipment and tools only as intended, properly and safely
  • meet with the Executive Pastry Chef to review assignments, anticipated business levels, changes and other information pertinent to the job performance
  • complete opening and closing duties including inspecting the cleanliness and working conditions of all tools, equipment and supplies
  • check production schedule and par
  • establish priority items for the day
  • prepare all menu items following recipes, according to departmental standards
  • inform the Executive Pastry Chef of any foreseeable shortages before items run out
  • maintain proper storage procedures as specified by Health Department and hotel requirements
  • minimize waste and maintain controls to attain forecasted food cost
