Job Description
Appellation is a distinguished hotel brand that stands out in the hospitality industry by seamlessly blending culinary excellence with superior guest experiences. Born from the innovative vision of co-founders Charlie Palmer, a celebrated chef renowned for revolutionizing the American hotel-restaurant model, and Christopher Hunsberger, a seasoned hospitality professional with over 30 years of experience including serving as president of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts North America, Appellation is committed to delivering a unique hotel experience. The company is deeply rooted in local culture and craftsmanship, celebrating the distinctive attributes of its locations through an inspired approach that connects people with food and place.
Located in Lodi, California, Appellation Lodi - Wine & Roses Resort and Spa offers guests a serene retreat infused with the charm of Northern California's wine country. This resort is celebrated for its romantic ambiance, exceptional culinary offerings, and warm, hospitable environment. Known as San Joaquin's leader in hospitality and culinary arts, the resort provides diverse opportunities for career growth in fields spanning culinary arts, event planning, spa and wellness, administration, and management. This community-oriented resort benefits from Lodi's attractive quality of life, combining a welcoming small-town feel with a wealth of outdoor recreational activities and a climate that complements an active lifestyle. The cost of living here is significantly lower than many major cities, making it an ideal place for professionals seeking a healthy work-life balance with access to major urban centers such as Sacramento, the Bay Area, and Lake Tahoe.
The Part-Time Pastry Cook position embodies a vital role within Appellation's Pastry Team. This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about creating exquisite desserts and baked goods, contributing to memorable dining experiences by upholding stringent quality and presentation standards. The position requires expertise in following standardized recipes to maintain consistency, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. The Pastry Cook II will prepare a variety of desserts served across all dining venues while assisting chefs and supporting the team to meet production demands. A critical aspect of the role involves ensuring proper food safety, handling, and sanitation practices in alignment with Appellation’s high standards.
Working part-time at a competitive rate of $21.15 per hour, the role offers appealing benefits including 401(k) matching, Aflac Supplemental insurance options, and employee discounts. The position demands flexibility in scheduling, including nights, weekends, and holidays, reflecting the dynamic nature of the hospitality industry. As part of Appellation’s vibrant team, the successful candidate will thrive in a collaborative kitchen environment, demonstrating flexibility by performing various kitchen functions undistracted, even under pressure. Their responsibility stretches beyond individual tasks to encompass maintaining a clean, organized, and safe workstation. They will also adhere closely to company standards on portion control, product freshness, and accurate food labeling and dating to minimize waste.
This role is perfect for a dedicated pastry professional eager to grow within an innovative and supportive company while enjoying the benefits of living and working in a vibrant wine country community. The Pastry Cook II position at Appellation offers a balance of creative challenge and career development, set against the backdrop of a company deeply committed to quality, innovation, and cultural celebration.
