Job Description
Marriott International is a globally renowned hospitality company dedicated to providing exceptional guest experiences through its diverse portfolio of hotels and resorts. Among its prestigious brands is the Autograph Collection, a distinctive group of four and five-star independent hotels known for their unique character, bold design, and exceptional quality. Each hotel within the Autograph Collection is carefully selected to offer guests a memorable stay that reflects a personalized and authentic travel experience. Located at 20301 Oakwood Blvd, Dearborn, Michigan, Marriott International proudly operates this hotel and is seeking dedicated individuals to join its team. As a company, Marriott champions diversity and inclusion, creating a welcoming environment where associates from all backgrounds can thrive, grow professionally, and feel valued as part of a global community. With a commitment to equal opportunity employment, Marriott ensures that all associates have access to opportunities regardless of disability, veteran status, or any other protected category under applicable law.
The role available is a Food Preparation Cook position within the Autograph Collection hotel in Dearborn. This is a full-time, non-management role, offering a competitive hourly wage of $22.15. The position centers around preparing and cooking food items according to established recipes, quality standards, and presentation expectations. The Food Preparation Cook will be responsible for handling ingredients by portioning, chopping, and storing them properly before use, ensuring consistent food quality during service. Additionally, the role requires safe and appropriate use of baking and measuring tools, kitchen equipment, and appliances needed to prepare a variety of baked goods and other menu items.
This position necessitates strict adherence to food safety and hygiene procedures, including personal hygiene standards and proper handling of food to prevent contamination. The Food Preparation Cook will regularly monitor kitchen appliance temperatures and food temperatures to ensure safety and quality, reporting any irregularities to management promptly. Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen area, including setting up and breaking down workstations and complying with all cleaning protocols, is integral to the job.
The successful candidate will be expected to monitor portion sizes and food quality throughout their shift to meet the high standards for which Marriott and the Autograph Collection are known. Aside from kitchen tasks, this position involves following all company policies related to safety and security, including reporting any accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions to supervisors, and completing necessary safety training and certifications. The Food Preparation Cook must maintain a clean and professional personal appearance, uphold confidentiality of proprietary information, and protect company property.
Excellent communication skills are essential, as the role involves speaking clearly and professionally with colleagues and answering telephones using proper etiquette. The Food Preparation Cook will work collaboratively with others, supporting team goals and fostering a positive work environment. Physical demands include the ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance, and to navigate sloping or slippery surfaces safely. The role also requires flexibility to perform various physical movements such as standing, sitting, walking, bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping for extended periods.
Marriott International views this position as an opportunity to be part of a globally recognized brand where employees can do their best work, begin their purpose, belong to a vibrant team, and become the best version of themselves. Joining this team means contributing to a company dedicated to unparalleled guest service and quality, while developing one's own hospitality skills within a respected global organization.
