Job Description

We are currently seeking a talented and passionate Seasonal Pastry Cook to join our esteemed culinary team. This role is designed to enhance our bakery and dessert offerings during the busy holiday season, starting in October and extending through the end of the year. The Seasonal Pastry Cook will be responsible for preparing and producing a variety of high-quality baked goods, desserts, and pastries that meet and exceed the expectations synonymous with The Jefferson Hotel's culinary excellence. This position requires creativity, precision, and unwavering attention to detail to maintain the highest standards of quality and presentation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pastry and baking techniques, be motivated, detail-oriented, and thrive in a fast-paced, professional kitchen environment. They will work collaboratively under the guidance of a skilled pastry team to deliver consistently exceptional products.

This temporary role is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated pastry professional eager to showcase their skills in one of Richmond’s most iconic hospitality settings. The Seasonal Pastry Cook will directly contribute to the success of multiple dining outlets within the hotel, including banquets, the hotel’s signature restaurant Lemaire, Room Service, Afternoon Tea service, and Gators bar. The position demands full flexibility and requires availability on weekends and holidays to support the hotel’s busy period. Job Requirements

  • Must be fully flexible and available to work weekends and holidays as required
  • Previous pastry or baking experience required, including breads, cakes, and dessert production
  • Culinary or pastry degree preferred but not required
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to follow recipes precisely, and proficiency in baking and decorating techniques
  • Dependable, punctual, and dedicated to producing consistent, high-quality products

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years professional pastry or baking experience in a full-service or fine dining environment
  • Strong understanding of pastry fundamentals and baking techniques
  • Culinary or pastry degree preferred
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs
  • Dependable, professional, and detail-oriented

Job Duties

  • Produce high-quality baked goods including breads, cakes, breakfast pastries, tarts, mousses, and plated desserts
  • Decorate cakes and pastries with artistic precision and consistency
  • Follow standardized recipes and portion controls to maintain product consistency
  • Ensure all pastry and baking equipment is used safely and properly maintained
  • Organize and label all ingredients and prepared items for efficient service
  • Assist with inventory, ordering, and receiving of pastry supplies
  • Maintain adherence to all health, sanitation, and safety regulations
