Job Description
EDITION Hotels combine the visionary genius of boutique hotelier Ian Schrager with the service excellence of a world-class luxury hotel and the expansive global reach of Marriott International. This harmonized collaboration creates a unique, elevated experience in the hospitality industry, blending polish with personality, perfectionism with individualism, and comfort with charisma and charm. EDITION targets sophisticated and knowledgeable consumers who appreciate quality, originality, design, and top-tier service, but desire these without limitations or conventional boundaries. The brand crafts an atmosphere that delivers exceptional, personalized hospitality wrapped in an attitude and feeling that speaks to exclusivity and innovation.
Marriott International, a global leader in the hospitality sector, is the hiring establishment behind this position. With a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, Marriott fosters an environment that values the unique backgrounds and experiences of its associates, welcoming individuals of all walks of life. Marriott emphasizes non-discrimination based on disability, veteran status, or other legally protected characteristics and considers qualified applicants with various backgrounds in accordance with applicable laws.
This job opportunity is a full-time, non-management position located at 9040 W Sunset Blvd, West Hollywood, California. The role offers a competitive hourly pay range of $33.53 to $34.53, reflecting Marriott’s dedication to fair and equitable compensation for its workforce.
The position invites energetic, outgoing, and authentically passionate individuals who seek a workplace that not only inspires and challenges them but also makes them proud to contribute. This role requires an employee who values service delivered with genuine care, as opposed to a scripted, manual-driven approach. The work culture at EDITION Hotels emphasizes the creation of a continuous theatrical performance that delights guests at every encounter, ensuring each stay is memorable and magical.
As a food preparation and culinary staff member, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking food in accordance with specific recipes, quality, and presentation standards. You will manage the preparation and portioning of ingredients, including chopping, storing, and baking. The role demands adherence to strict food safety handling procedures, personal hygiene standards, and sanitation practices. Temperature monitoring of kitchen appliances and food items will be critical, with any malfunctions or discrepancies reported promptly to management.
Your duties will also involve maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen by washing and disinfecting workstations, as well as setting up and breaking down your work area efficiently. Monitoring food quality and portion sizes during shifts ensures that guest expectations are consistently met. The position requires stamina and physical agility to perform tasks such as lifting objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance, navigating uneven or slippery surfaces, bending, stooping, and standing or walking for extended periods.
In addition to the practical duties, the role requires adherence to all company policies relating to safety, security, and conduct. Employees are responsible for reporting accidents, unsafe conditions, and participating in required safety training and certifications. Maintaining a professional appearance and preserving the confidentiality of company information and assets are mandatory.
Effective communication skills are essential, including the use of clear and professional language when interacting with colleagues and guests, as well as adherence to telephone etiquette. Cooperation and positive relationships with team members are encouraged to promote a collaborative work environment aligned with the company’s high standards of quality and service.
The ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent and preferably have less than one year of related work experience. Supervisory experience is not required, and no specific licenses or certifications are mandated. This entry-level opportunity is designed to nurture talent within a supportive, performance-oriented hospitality environment, offering career growth alongside some of the industry’s foremost leaders and innovators.
