This specific role is a full-time, non-management position in the Food and Beverage and Culinary category, offering a pay rate of $27.20 per hour. The job is located onsite at 1000 H St, Chula Vista, California. In this role, the employee will be responsible for preparing and cooking food according to established recipes, quality standards, and presentation guidelines. The daily tasks include ingredient preparation such as portioning, chopping, and storing food safely before cooking. Employees must competently use cooking tools, equipment, and appliances while adhering strictly to food handling and personal hygiene procedures to ensure safety and prevent contamination.
Temperature control is critical; the role requires checking and maintaining proper temperatures of cooking appliances and food items, immediately reporting any discrepancies to management. Kitchen cleanliness and sanitation are paramount, with duties encompassing cleaning and disinfecting kitchen areas, organizing workstations, and following all hygiene and cleaning protocols consistently.
Monitoring food quality and portion size throughout the shift is essential to maintain customer satisfaction and minimize waste. The role also demands compliance with company policies, occupational safety standards, and active communication about any accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions. This position involves continuous safety training and certification compliance.
Professional appearance and confidentiality are emphasized, requiring that employees maintain a clean, professional uniform and protect company proprietary information. Effective communication skills and teamwork are important, as the employee will interact with colleagues using professional language, handle phone calls appropriately, and support team objectives for operational excellence.
Physically, the role involves moving or lifting items possibly weighing up to 25 pounds, performing tasks that include bending, twisting, stretching, standing, or walking for extended periods, and navigating various work floor surfaces. Flexibility to take on other reasonable duties assigned by supervisors is also expected.
