We are currently seeking a highly skilled and passionate Pastry Chef to join our culinary team at BLT. This is a full-time role offering competitive hourly rates, with substantial benefits including paid time off, a full benefits package after 90 days featuring 75% paid premiums, a 401k with employer match, and other valuable perks. The Pastry Chef will play a crucial role in enhancing the dessert menu by preparing traditional and modern pastries such as cakes, cookies, pies, and bread, as well as crafting innovative new creations to continually delight our customers and keep our menu fresh and exciting.
The ideal candidate will be adept at decorating pastries using various icings and toppings to ensure visually appealing presentation and customer satisfaction. Additionally, the Pastry Chef will be responsible for managing inventory by monitoring stocks of baking ingredients like flour and sugar to maintain optimal kitchen efficiency and adhere to budget constraints. This role requires a proactive individual who can ensure the highest quality of materials and proper condition of all kitchen equipment and devices.
Leadership skills are also essential, as the Pastry Chef will guide and motivate pastry assistants and bakers to work efficiently while identifying staffing needs to recruit, train, and develop new personnel. Maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly cooking station in compliance with health and safety standards is also a critical responsibility of the role.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven experience in a pastry chef role
- Knowledge of baking techniques and ingredients
- Strong attention to detail and artistic ability
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
Job Qualifications
- Experience as a pastry chef or similar role
- Strong creativity and knowledge of traditional and modern baking techniques
- Leadership skills to manage and motivate kitchen staff
- Ability to maintain quality and consistency in pastry production
- Knowledge of health and safety standards in kitchen environments
- Excellent organizational and inventory management skills
- Culinary degree or relevant certifications preferred
Job Duties
- Preparing a wide variety of goods such as cakes, cookies, pies, bread following traditional and modern recipes
- Creating new and exciting desserts to renew menus and engage customer interest
- Decorating pastries using different icings, toppings to ensure beautiful and exciting presentation
- Monitoring stocks for baking ingredients such as flour, sugar and making appropriate orders within budget
- Checking quality of materials and condition of equipment and devices used
- Guiding and motivating pastry assistants and bakers to work more efficiently
- Identifying staffing needs and helping recruit and train personnel
- Maintaining a clean and orderly cooking station and adhering to health and safety standards
