This full-time, non-management position offers a competitive pay range of $32.48 to $43.30 per hour, reflecting the hotel's commitment to recognizing talent and dedication. As a Substitute Pastry Cook, you will play a crucial role in upholding the high standards of quality and presentation in the hotel’s food and beverage services, particularly focusing on pastries and desserts. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking food according to established recipes, quality standards, and food safety guidelines. Your duties will include preparing ingredients such as portioning and chopping, utilizing kitchen tools and appliances safely and efficiently, and maintaining clean and sanitary work areas. You will monitor food temperatures, report any issues to management, and ensure compliance with hygiene and safety standards throughout the food preparation process. Furthermore, you will contribute to the smooth operation of the kitchen by supporting team efforts, maintaining professionalism in appearance and conduct, and fostering positive workplace relationships.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Less than one year of related work experience
- No supervisory experience required
- No licenses or certifications required
- Ability to lift, move, and position objects up to 25 pounds unassisted
- Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods
- Ability to work on uneven or slippery surfaces
- Ability to perform physical movements such as bending, twisting, stretching, and crouching
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Less than one year of related work experience
- Ability to follow detailed recipes and food safety protocols
- Basic culinary knowledge especially in pastry preparation
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
- Strong communication skills
Job Duties
- Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, and food preparation checklists
- Prepare ingredients for cooking including portioning, chopping, and storing
- Use kitchen tools, equipment, and appliances safely and appropriately for measuring and baking
- Follow and ensure compliance with food handling safety policies and personal hygiene procedures
- Check and ensure correct appliance and food temperatures and report issues to management
- Clean and sanitize kitchen areas, set up and divide work stations, and follow hygiene and cleaning procedures
- Monitor food quality and portion sizes throughout shifts
