Job Description

New Waterloo is a community-centric independent hospitality company based in Austin, Texas. This company embraces a philosophy that prioritizes empowering its people and local communities, aiming to create environments that nurture lasting social impact. Driven by a team of experienced hospitality professionals, New Waterloo blends passion, talent, and collaborative efforts to foster thoughtful spaces and successful businesses. Their commitment to social responsibility goes hand in hand with their business vision, ensuring that every establishment they operate is not just a place to dine or stay, but a meaningful hub that uplifts its neighborhood. They are proud to champion diversity and inclusion in all aspects of their operations, making them an equal opportunity employer that does not discriminate based on race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status. This welcoming culture creates a vibrant, dynamic place to work and grow.

The role at New Waterloo focuses on positions within the culinary and hospitality sector where meticulous attention to food safety, preparation, and presentation is key. Candidates hired will be responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and sanitation in food preparation and serving areas, ensuring that all food-handling practices are safe and comply with regulatory standards. The role requires preparing and cooking dishes promptly and consistently by adhering to established recipes and procedures, guaranteeing the quality and consistency that patrons expect. It also involves storing food properly to avoid spoilage and supporting the efficient operation of the kitchen by transporting food supplies, equipment, and utensils as needed. Additional responsibilities include weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients accurately using various kitchen tools and equipment, as well as artfully portioning and garnishing items such as pastries to enhance visual appeal. Candidates will also prepare fruits and vegetables by washing, peeling, cutting, and seeding them accurately in preparation for cooking or serving.

This position requires a strong knowledge of timing and food readiness, with methods such as tasting, temperature checking, or using utensils to test doneness all integral to ensuring excellent culinary outcomes. Furthermore, employees will be involved in estimating food consumption, managing supply requisitions, and participating in the procurement process to keep kitchen operations smooth and well-stocked. The ideal candidate for this role will be a hardworking and creative individual who brings both precision and artistry to the kitchen. They must appreciate that the enjoyment of food starts well before it reaches the palate—that the dish's presentation, its story, and the care taken in its preparation contribute significantly to the dining experience.

New Waterloo offers a competitive compensation package for full-time employees, reflecting the value they place on dedicated team members. Employees enjoy up to three weeks of paid time off annually, a 50% discount at most New Waterloo restaurants, comprehensive health, vision, and dental benefits, and 401K matching to support their financial future. The benefits package also includes paid holidays, volunteer pay, tuition reimbursement, referral bonuses, and discounts at affiliated shops, hotels, and local partnerships. This combination of meaningful work, a supportive community, and robust benefits makes this an outstanding opportunity for culinary professionals passionate about contributing to both exceptional food service and impactful social environments. New Waterloo continues to accept applications on an ongoing basis until the perfect candidate is selected, reflecting its open and considerate hiring process focused on finding individuals who share their vision and commitment.
