The role in question is a Pastry Cook position, offered on a PM shift from 2:30 PM to 10:30 PM, with an hourly wage ranging from $18.00 to $20.00, depending on experience. The successful candidate will play a vital role in crafting an array of delectable pastries, including cookies, cakes, breads, and other baked goods, adhering strictly to established recipes and presentation standards. This position requires a balance of creativity and precision as the pastry cook helps maintain inventory, oversees dessert displays, and supports banquet and special event orders, including wedding cakes. Moreover, the Pastry Cook is entrusted with maintaining the cleanliness of the bake shop and ensuring that all health and safety standards are consistently met. This job is ideal for a motivated culinary professional who has some prior pastry experience and takes pride in producing high-quality bakery items that enhance the dining experience for guests at Normandy Farm. Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • completion of a culinary school program or apprenticeship preferred
  • must have one year of previous pastry experience
  • must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • ability to stand for long periods of time
  • basic math skills

  • a flexible schedule, especially during the holidays
  • must have reliable transportation

Job Qualifications

  • Completion of a culinary school program or apprenticeship preferred
  • must have one year of previous pastry experience
  • understanding of bakery production and pastry techniques
  • ability to follow complex recipes and presentation standards
  • strong teamwork and communication skills
  • passion for culinary arts and attention to detail

Job Duties

  • Prepares all plated desserts, chocolates, confections, entremets, frozen desserts, glazes, pies, cakes, and other bakery items in accordance with established recipe and presentation standards
  • helps set pace and prep lists for the day with pastry staff
  • understands and oversees banquet orders, bread orders, and ordering in absence of Executive Pastry Chef
  • oversees pastry cart and buffet dessert table set up and presentation
  • helps maintain the cleanliness of the bake shop
  • assists in the fulfillment of wedding cake orders, handles special cake shapes and decorations
  • assists in production of bread, rolls, biscuits and muffins to maintain an inventory of freshly baked goods at all times
