Job Description
Sheraton Hotels & Resorts, a prominent brand within the Marriott International family, is part of a global hospitality leader that has been creating memorable experiences since 1937. Situated at Walt Disney World Dolphin in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, this establishment offers a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere for travelers and guests from around the world. Sheraton is widely recognized for its exceptional service and dedication to creating a sense of belonging within its more than 400 communities globally. The company prides itself on fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce that values the unique backgrounds, talents, and experiences of all its associates. Sheraton's commitment to equal opportunity employment, non-discrimination, and professional development sets the foundation for employees to grow and succeed in the hospitality industry. The Food and Beverage & Culinary department at Sheraton Hotels and Resorts is seeking dedicated individuals to join their team in a full-time, non-management culinary position.
In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking food according to established recipes, ensuring adherence to quality standards and presentation guidelines. You will prepare ingredients by portioning, chopping, and storing food items appropriately before use. A key component of the position is the correct and safe use of baking and measuring tools, equipment, and appliances to produce high-quality baked goods. Maintaining strict compliance with food safety policies, including proper hygiene and handling procedures, is crucial. You will also monitor and record temperatures of kitchen appliances and foods and promptly report any issues to management.
The position requires maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen environment by washing and disinfecting work areas, setting up and breaking down stations, and abiding by sanitation procedures rigorously. You will oversee the quality and portion control of prepared dishes throughout your shift to ensure guests receive meals that meet Sheraton's standards. The role also entails following all company policies on safety and security, promptly reporting accidents or unsafe conditions, and completing necessary safety training and certifications. Additionally, employees must maintain a professional appearance and protect company assets by safeguarding proprietary information.
Good communication skills are essential, as you will interact with team members and guests professionally, including answering telephone calls with appropriate etiquette. Supporting team goals, building positive working relationships, and contributing to a collaborative culinary environment are vital for success in this role. The physical demands include lifting or moving items up to 25 pounds, navigating uneven or slippery surfaces, and performing tasks requiring reaching, bending, and standing for extended periods. The position recognizes the importance of teamwork and flexibility, with other reasonable duties assigned as needed by supervisors.
Sheraton Hotels & Resorts is a place where you can bring your passion for culinary arts to life, learn new skills, and become part of a global community dedicated to exceptional hospitality. Being part of this team means contributing to 'The World's Gathering Place' — a mission centered around guest satisfaction, cultural connection, and meaningful service experiences. This full-time non-management role offers an opportunity to start or grow your career in the dynamic food and beverage sector within a leading hospitality brand.
