The role of Pastry Cook at The Heritage at Brentwood is a full-time position offering a competitive wage of $24.00 per hour and a flexible schedule without late-night shifts, making it ideal for professionals seeking work-life balance. This position reports directly to the Pastry Chef and plays a pivotal role within the Food & Beverage department. The Pastry Cook is responsible for crafting a variety of pastries, baked goods, and desserts that delight the community residents, complement daily specials, and enhance special events. Precision in preparing food according to standard recipes as well as accommodating special dietary requirements is crucial. Candidates will be expected to organize pastry production efficiently, ensuring both cost-effectiveness and compliance with stringent health and safety regulations. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum three years of pastry cook experience
- Proficient in English communication
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Ability to follow recipes accurately
- Physical ability to stand for long periods
- Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screening
Job Qualifications
- At least 3 years' experience working as a pastry cook in hotel, restaurant, country club or other similar industry producing pastries, desserts and breads from scratch
- Ability to understand and follow instructions in English and communicate effectively
- Working knowledge of kitchen equipment operations and maintenance
- Understand measurements, conversions, nutrition and diet
- Comfortable working independently as well as with others
- Must be able to provide photo samples of dessert and pastry creations
- Pre-employment criminal background check and drug screening are required
- marijuana not included in pre-hire drug screening
Job Duties
- Under the guidance of the Pastry Chef, prepares pastries, baked goods, and desserts for the Food & Beverage department, community residents, daily specials, and special events
- Prepares all food served according to standard recipes and special dietary orders
- Organizes pastry production in a cost-effective manner and in accordance with health and safety standards
- Maintains assigned workstation in a safe and sanitary condition
- Complies with standards for personal hygiene and dress code
- Knowledge of proper operation and maintenance of kitchen tools and equipment
- Steeplechase Lounge is a popular evening gathering spot for residents and features classic cocktails
- Corner Market offers fresh baked pastries, coffee, grocery items, or a quick bite
