This job opening is for the role of Pastry Cook at the St. Louis Four Seasons hotel. The Pastry Cook position is responsible for preparing and planning an array of sweet culinary items ranging from pastries, cakes, and ice creams to sorbets, fruit compotes, breads, and chocolates. The role may also involve assisting in creating specialty items for hotel amenities and special functions. Pastry Cook roles exist in various levels, from Pastry Cook I to Pastry Cook III, with the specific level determined through the interview process. Key responsibilities include ensuring food safety by adhering to proper storage, sanitation, and allergy guidelines, as well as strict recipe adherence for preparation and portion control. The role involves maintaining kitchen cleanliness, managing stock levels to support quality standards, and fostering strong communication and teamwork to ensure timely and professional service delivery. The work environment is dynamic, requiring the ability to perform in a fast-paced setting while paying close attention to detail.
This is a full-time role, with working hours primarily in the mornings and evenings, including weekdays and weekends. The ideal candidate will have a culinary or pastry degree or certificate, strong communication skills, and the ability to follow detailed cooking techniques that comply with food safety and sanitation standards.
