Our client is a prestigious private club dedicated to offering a distinguished culinary experience to its members and guests. Renowned for its exceptional service and luxurious atmosphere, the club prides itself on maintaining high standards in all aspects of food preparation and presentation. With a focus on quality, tradition, and innovation, this establishment provides a unique environment for culinary professionals seeking to advance their careers in a sophisticated, member-focused setting.
We are currently seeking a skilled Pastry Cook 1 to join the club’s culinary team. This position reports directly to the Pastry Chef and plays a critical role in creating and delivering a wide variety of baked goods that meet the club’s rigorous standards. The Pastry Cook 1 is responsible for preparing all baked goods, including puddings, gelatins, frozen desserts, stewed and baked fruits, pies, cakes, French pastries, and other bakery items. This role requires a balance of creativity, precision, and adherence to recipe standards, ensuring every item not only tastes exquisite but is also presented beautifully. The person in this role will participate in the baking and decoration of specialty items such as wedding cakes, handling unique shapes and styles as needed. Maintaining a consistent inventory of freshly baked breads, rolls, biscuits, and muffins is also essential to meet daily demand.
In addition to baking responsibilities, the Pastry Cook 1 will contribute to maintaining a clean and safe working environment within the bake shop. Applicants must be proactive in notifying the Pastry Chef of any supply shortages to ensure continuous production. They will be involved in requisitioning necessary supplies and enforcing health and safety regulations to uphold the highest sanitary standards. The position demands physical stamina, as it involves standing for extended periods and performing tasks requiring manual dexterity and strength, including lifting up to 25 pounds.
This role demands not only technical baking skills but also excellent organizational and communication skills. A professional and friendly demeanor is essential to work cohesively within the culinary team and to deliver outstanding service to club members. Candidates must hold a City of Chicago Certificate of Sanitation and possess a minimum of two years’ experience working as a baker. Educational qualifications include a diploma in Confectionery and Bakery or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Joining this club as a Pastry Cook 1 offers a unique opportunity to grow professionally within a renowned institution known for culinary excellence. The role is best suited for those passionate about pastry arts, attentive to detail, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety. Employment type and salary details are typically structured to reflect the experience and expertise required, offering competitive compensation within the industry.
