This is a full-time Pastry Chef position with a schedule primarily from 5:00 am to 1:30 pm, including rotating weekends and varying days, with specific details to be discussed during the interview process. The pay range for this role is competitive, set between $22.00 and $25.00 per hour, reflecting the expertise and experience expected from candidates.

The Pastry Chef role at Morrison Living is a critical position within their culinary operations. This professional is responsible for creating, planning, and supervising the production of high-quality pastries, desserts, and baked goods. It requires a culinary expert with a minimum of five years of prior experience in the field, capable of managing both the creative and operational aspects of the pastry kitchen. The Pastry Chef ensures recipes and culinary standards are strictly adhered to, controlling food costs and overseeing the quantity produced to meet the establishment’s daily production needs. They play an integral role in maintaining food safety, proper handling, presentation, portion control, and ensuring all products are served at the correct temperature, which supports the overall dining experience and customer satisfaction.

Beyond the kitchen, the Pastry Chef supervises and mentors hourly kitchen and pastry associates, handling important managerial duties such as interviewing new team members, scheduling shifts, managing payroll, providing training and counseling, participating in performance reviews, and recommending disciplinary actions when necessary. Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • Supervises the daily production and distribution of all pastries, desserts and baked goods
  • Ensures recipes and standards are followed, food costs are controlled and appropriate quantity is prepared based on established production needs
  • Ensures proper food handling, presentation, portion control and maintenance of proper serving temperatures
  • Monitors and controls the maintenance and sanitation of the pastry kitchen and equipment to ensure a work environment that meets or exceeds federal, state and corporate standards and regulations
  • Supervises hourly kitchen and pastry associates, including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, participating in reviews and recommending disciplinary action as appropriate
  • Helps plan and implement seasonal menus
  • Orders and maintains pastry supplies and products to ensure appropriate inventory levels
  • Performs other duties as assigned
