We are currently seeking a full-time Pastry Chef to join our dynamic team at the Winston Salem location. This role is vital in creating, planning, and supervising the daily production of high-quality pastries, desserts, and baked goods. The Pastry Chef will ensure that culinary standards and recipes are rigorously followed while controlling food costs and maintaining appropriate production quantities. Working full-time Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, this position offers a competitive pay range of $17.00 to $20.00 per hour and the advantage of weekends and holidays off, providing an excellent work-life balance. The successful candidate will oversee the pastry kitchen's sanitation and equipment maintenance, ensure proper food handling and presentation, and supervise kitchen staff including interviewing, scheduling, training, and payroll management. Job Requirements

  • Previous one year of culinary and pastry experience required
  • Availability to work full-time Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm
  • Ability to maintain a clean and sanitary work environment
  • Capable of supervising and training hourly staff
  • Willing to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Must be eligible to work legally
  • Good communication and teamwork skills

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum one year culinary and pastry experience
  • Ability to supervise and manage kitchen staff
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to follow recipes and maintain quality control
  • Experience with menu planning and inventory management
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and train others

Job Duties

  • Create, plan and supervise the daily production of pastries, desserts and baked goods
  • Supervise daily production and distribution of all pastries and desserts
  • Ensure recipes and standards are followed
  • Control food costs and prepare appropriate quantities based on production needs
  • Ensure proper food handling, presentation, portion control and serving temperatures
  • Monitor and control sanitation and maintenance of the pastry kitchen and equipment
  • Supervise hourly kitchen and pastry associates including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training and counseling
  • Help plan and implement seasonal menus
  • Order and maintain pastry supplies and inventory levels
  • Perform other duties as assigned
