As a full-time Pastry Chef at Occasions Caterers, you will play a critical role in creating, planning, and supervising the daily production of premium pastries, desserts, and baked goods. This position requires expertise in pastry preparation, quality control, and inventory management to consistently deliver exceptional products that meet established standards and customer expectations. Working Monday through Sunday with variable hours, the role offers a competitive pay range of $23.00 to $25.00 per hour.

You will also be responsible for ensuring recipes are followed precisely, managing food costs, maintaining proper presentation and serving temperatures, and upholding strict food handling and sanitation protocols. Leading hourly kitchen and pastry associates will be a vital part of your responsibilities, including interviewing, scheduling, training, and conducting performance reviews. You will help plan and implement seasonal menus that excite and delight clients, managing inventory by ordering and maintaining pastry supplies efficiently.

Job Requirements

  • Prior pastry cooking experience required
  • Availability to work full time, Monday through Sunday with varying hours
  • Ability to comply with safety procedures including use of protective gloves and proper lifting techniques
  • Capability to manage inventory and control food costs
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation

Job Duties

  • Supervises the daily production and distribution of all pastries, desserts and baked goods
  • Ensures recipes and standards are followed, food costs are controlled and appropriate quantity is prepared based on established production needs
  • Ensures proper food handling, presentation, portion control and maintenance of proper serving temperatures
  • Monitors and controls the maintenance and sanitation of the pastry kitchen and equipment to ensure a work environment that meets/exceeds federal, state and corporate standards and regulations
  • Supervises hourly kitchen/pastry associates, including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, participating in reviews and recommending disciplinary action, as appropriate
  • Helps plan and implement seasonal menus
  • Orders and maintains pastry supplies and products to ensure appropriate inventory levels
