Job Requirements

  • Basic understanding of baking principles and techniques
  • Ability to follow recipes accurately and consistently
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Fundamental knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights up to 25 lbs
  • Enthusiasm for learning and a positive, collaborative attitude

Job Qualifications

  • Completion of a culinary arts program or pastry school certificate
  • Prior experience in a kitchen or bakery setting including volunteer or home baking projects
  • Basic knife skills
  • Creativity and an artistic eye for presentation
  • Familiarity with various types of doughs, fillings, and icings

Job Duties

  • Assist senior pastry chefs with the preparation and production of desserts, pastries, breads, and baked goods
  • Accurately measure and mix ingredients according to recipes and schedules
  • Learn and practice baking and decorating techniques including piping, glazing, and plating
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation adhering to food safety standards
  • Monitor inventory levels and notify supervisors of stock shortages
  • Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
  • Contribute to menu development and seasonal specials by experimenting with new flavors
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to ensure smooth kitchen operations
  • Manage basic tasks such as washing dishes, sweeping, and mopping
  • Receive and properly store incoming ingredients checking for quality and freshness
