Job Requirements
- High school diploma
- Minimum 3 years prior experience as Pastry Sous Chef
- Demonstrate strong pastry skills
- Knowledge of inventory and cost control
- Ability to bake with ingredient limitations like gluten-free and sugarless
- Fluent in English
- Administrative experience with computers
- Ability to work in high-volume settings
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Technical culinary program degree with pastry emphasis preferred
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Pastry Sous Chef
- Demonstrated strong pastry skills and operation
- At least 1 year of inventory and cost control experience preferred
- Working knowledge of baking with ingredient limitations such as gluten-free and sugarless options
- Fluency in English required, Spanish fluency a plus
- Proficient administrative skills and computer literacy
- Ability to perform in high-volume kitchen environments
Job Duties
- Prepare a wide variety of pastries such as cakes, cookies, pies, and bread following traditional and modern recipes
- Assist with developing, implementing, and maintaining new recipes, presentations, and products
- Coordinate and direct the pastry operation alongside the Pastry Chef
- Supervise preparation and production of all baked goods
- Prepare specialty baked goods for in-house and catered events
- Inspect ingredient quality and measure accurately for recipes
- Pair recommended desserts with appropriate wines, cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages
- Control storage and stock levels while maintaining cost-consciousness
- Check quality of materials and function of baking equipment
- Analyze food costs to determine cost-effective recipes maintaining quality
- Identify staffing needs and assist in recruitment and training
- Provide training and guidance to pastry staff
- Ensure kitchen equipment meets operational standards
- Perform other duties as assigned to support business needs
