The role of Pastry Chef at Premier Steakhouse is a full-time position designed for an experienced culinary professional passionate about dessert design, preparation, and plating. Working closely alongside a dynamic team in a high-volume setting, the Pastry Chef is responsible for creating innovative and elegant desserts that match the restaurant’s high standards of quality and presentation. This position requires a candidate who is friendly, hardworking, flexible, and able to thrive in a team-oriented environment. The Pastry Chef will be entrusted with developing new recipes for seasonal menus, ensuring all dessert offerings align with industry trends and the restaurant's upscale image. Additional responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness and safety in the kitchen, adhering to health department regulations, managing inventory and costing, and possibly leading a team. Ideal candidates will have a minimum of three years’ leadership experience in pastry or dessert kitchens and possess skills in bread making and chocolate work. The Pastry Chef role offers a competitive pay rate of $30-35 per hour plus a percentage of service charge, reflecting the level of expertise and contribution expected from the successful applicant.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to create recipes for new desserts
  • Minimum three years experience leading a team
  • Bread making and chocolate work experience preferred
  • Knowledge of costing and ordering inventory preferred
  • Ability to work long days when necessary
  • Reliable transportation to and from work
  • Knowledge of and ability to consistently prepare food recipes and sub-recipes as instructed by Executive Chef or General Manager
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English in both verbal and written form
  • Ability to expedite tickets accurately and timely
  • Basic understanding of proper cooling and storing practices per health department rules
  • Ability to follow directions in a fast-paced environment
  • Manage time effectively
  • Work well in a team environment
  • Must have valid Washington State Health Card and any other required government cards
  • Desire to learn, grow, and passion for progress in this career

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Prepares dessert orders for guests using prescribed recipes and standards
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment including kitchen walk-in coolers and storage room
  • Conceptualizes and executes all dessert items including baked and cold goods
  • Communicates any problems or situations detrimental to property to the Manager on Duty
  • Interacts with guests to make them feel comfortable and welcome when applicable
  • Decorates and presents pastries, baked goods, and other desserts tastefully
  • Works with a sense of urgency to meet guests' demands in a timely fashion
  • Uses relevant kitchen equipment including cookware, dishwashing machines, kitchen monitors, printers, and POS terminals
  • Develops new seasonal recipes aligned with savory menus and industry trends
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the company
