As a part of the Cypress Social team, the pastry department plays a crucial role in maintaining the restaurant’s high standards through the creation and presentation of delectable desserts. The Pastry Chef position at Cypress Social is a full-time role with a competitive hourly wage ranging from $18.00 to $24.00. This position reports directly to the Executive Chef, General Manager, and Assistant General Manager, ensuring that the pastry department operates efficiently and aligns with the company’s vision.
The Pastry Chef at Cypress Social is responsible for all aspects related to the pastry department's functions. This includes maintaining the quality and consistency of desserts as set forth by the culinary leadership and ownership. The candidate will oversee kitchen organization, product rotation, and routine maintenance to ensure an optimal working environment. Strict adherence to recipes is essential for consistency in the dessert program, and the pastry chef will assist in coordinating and directing dessert preparation from the initial prep phase through to service.
In addition to daily kitchen duties, the pastry chef will assist in sourcing and ordering special ingredients when necessary and manage weekly inventory counts to keep the department well-stocked and organized. A key aspect of the role involves staying current with industry trends in desserts and pastries, adopting new culinary techniques and presentation styles to enhance the restaurant’s menu offerings.
Health and safety compliance are also paramount in this role, with the pastry chef responsible for ensuring that the station and surrounding areas are sanitized and maintained according to company standards and health code regulations. The position demands flexibility in working hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet the dynamic needs of the restaurant's service schedule. Job Requirements
- High school degree or equivalent
- Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in pastry or related culinary field
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings
- Knowledge of health and safety standards in kitchen environments
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards
- Capacity to work in a fast-paced, production environment

Job Duties
- Maintains quality and consistency standards of desserts set forth by the Executive Chef, General Manager and ownership
- Ensures the station and surrounding areas are sanitized and clean in accordance with company standards and health code regulations
- Manages kitchen organization, product rotation and routine maintenance
- Adheres to and accurately follows recipes to ensure consistency of the dessert program
- Assists in the coordination and direction of all dessert preparation from prep through service
- Assists in ordering special ingredients and supplies when necessary
- Responsible for weekly inventory counts for the pastry department
- Stays current on dessert and pastry industry trends, new culinary techniques and presentations
- Communicates necessary repairs for kitchen equipment and appliances
- Keeps records relating to deliveries, dessert transfers and production levels
- Exhibits flexibility with working hours, including weekends and evenings
- Capable of working in a fast-paced, production environment
