The position available is a full-time Pastry Chef role within the Bakery department of Harmons. This role is pivotal in maintaining the quality standards and product levels of all pastry items offered in the store. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in cake decorating and pastry preparation, with a passion for creating delicious and visually appealing baked goods. The role involves a diverse set of responsibilities including preparing, cooking, mixing, baking, assembling, packaging, labeling, and decorating pastries. Additionally, the Pastry Chef will manage inventory levels by ordering, receiving, and storing products, ensuring that production schedules meet the store's demands.

The candidate will play a crucial role in training other Pastry Chefs, sharing expertise to uphold Harmons' high standards consistently. This position requires attention to detail to confirm pricing accuracy and proper product signage, especially for promotional items. The bakery environment necessitates daily cleaning and sanitizing to meet company standards and to provide customers with an attractive and safe shopping experience.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • one year bakery experience preferred
  • current Food Handler’s Permit

Job Duties

  • Follows established departmental and store policies and procedures
  • ensures the quality and freshness of all bakery products and services
  • maintains appropriate product assortment and inventory levels

  • ensures daily cleaning and sanitizing of the bakery
  • delivers excellent customer service
  • follows production sheets to maintain inventory levels
  • ensures correct stock of ingredients and supplies
  • prepares, cooks, bakes, assembles, and decorates pastries for sale and back-stock
  • communicates openly with Store Director and Bakery Manager
