With a wide array of amenities including gaming, dining, entertainment, and event spaces, Northern Quest Resort & Casino offers a dynamic work environment for its employees and a memorable experience for its guests. As a major employer in the region, the resort emphasizes the importance of teamwork, professional development, and adherence to high standards of quality and safety in all operations. The Kalispel Tribe of Indians promotes a culture of respect, inclusivity, and excellence, and it applies Indian preference in hiring to support the community's growth and prosperity.
The Bakery Supervisor role at Northern Quest Resort & Casino is a vital leadership position within the resort’s culinary division. This role involves supervising and coordinating the production of an extensive range of baked goods including desserts, confections, breads, fancy pastries, ice creams, and holiday garnishes. The Bakery Supervisor works closely with the Executive Banquet Chef to manage the bakery functions, ensuring products are prepared according to standardized recipes and quality guidelines. This position is critical in maintaining the high standards of food quality, presentation, and guest satisfaction expected at a top-tier resort and casino.
Key responsibilities include supervising all pastry staff through recruitment, training, coaching, and discipline while scheduling appropriate staffing levels based on daily needs and banquet functions. The Bakery Supervisor ensures proper storage of all bakery items to maintain freshness and compliance with internal quality standards and FDA guidelines. Furthermore, the supervisor oversees recipe accuracy and updates, participates in new product testing and development, maintains control over food specifications and costs, and assists in budget preparation. An essential part of the role is fostering a positive work environment that promotes teamwork and professional development through ongoing training and seminars.
This position requires strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills to effectively manage a team of 8-10 pastry prep personnel. The Bakery Supervisor acts as a key liaison between culinary departments and other areas of the resort to ensure smooth operations. The role demands a hands-on approach, problem-solving abilities, and the capability to work in a demanding, fast-paced environment while upholding safety and sanitation standards. Physical demands include lifting and moving objects, standing or sitting for long periods, and performing repetitive tasks with dexterity.
Candidates should possess a Culinary Arts associate degree or equivalent education and bring at least five years of related experience including supervisory experience at the pastry sous chef level or higher, particularly in high-volume, multi-venue resort settings. Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain required licenses including a Tribal Gaming License and a Washington State Food Handler Permit. This is an at-will employment position that may require working nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Northern Quest Resort & Casino offers a supportive work environment that values employee well-being and professional growth, supporting the overall mission of delivering exceptional guest experiences through culinary excellence and tribal hospitality. This detailed role description ensures candidates are well-informed about the expectations and the rewarding opportunity to contribute to an exceptional resort culinary team.
