The role of Pastry Chef at Estancia La Jolla is a critical position within the culinary team, responsible for crafting an array of pastry items, including pastries, breads, desserts, ice creams, sorbets, mousses, custards, and cakes. Job Requirements

  • Completion of an approved culinary program or apprenticeship
  • Requires one to two years of increasingly responsible pastry experience in a hotel environment
  • Ability to serve the needs of guests through verbal face-to-face interactions
  • Ability to use discretion when handling confidential or sensitive information
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and professional demeanor
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to a high level of guest satisfaction
  • Completes required training as scheduled
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to work AM, PM, weekend, and holiday shifts as required by operational needs

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Prepare a variety of pastry items such as breads, desserts, ice creams, sorbets, mousses, custards, and cakes
  • Ensure consistent high-quality standards for all pastry products served at restaurants, banquets, and events
  • Manage pastry preparation to meet daily service requirements
  • Collaborate with culinary team to design and develop new pastry menus and seasonal offerings
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of pastry workstations and equipment
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations
  • Train and mentor junior pastry staff to improve skills and performance
