The role of Pastry Chef at Bread & Butter is a unique opportunity for a seasoned professional ready to take full ownership of the bakery's pastry program. This is not only a leadership role but also a hands-on position where the chef will be intimately involved in daily kitchen operations. The Pastry Chef will be responsible for mentoring and developing a small team, ensuring that every pastry item leaving the bakery meets impressive standards of quality and creativity. With a focus on viennoiserie, such as croissants and laminated doughs, as well as a variety of seasonal desserts, cookies, brownies, and quiches, this role offers breadth and depth in pastry production.
This position pays between $40,000 and $50,000 annually based on experience and includes a $100 monthly wellness stipend to help offset healthcare costs. The Pastry Chef will work early mornings, typically starting between 6 and 7 a.m., which requires reliability and dedication to the bakery’s schedule. The work environment at Bread & Butter is close-knit, supportive, and collaborative, with a team of 15 individuals who share a serious approach to baking artistry. - 3-5+ years of commercial pastry experience
- Laminated dough and viennoiserie experience strongly preferred
- Proven ability to lead and develop a team

Job Duties
- Own and lead the full pastry program including cookies, brownies, quiches, seasonal desserts, and more
- Produce and oversee viennoiserie including croissants, danishes, and laminated doughs
- Manage production schedules, prep lists, and inventory to support retail and wholesale demand
- Train, mentor, and develop pastry team members
- Drive seasonal menu development and new product creation
- Maintain and uphold quality and consistency standards across all pastry items
- Collaborate with bread and kitchen teams on special projects and seasonal offerings
