Job Description

American Cruise Lines is the largest cruise line operating exclusively within the United States, offering unique small-ship experiences aboard modern riverboats and iconic paddlewheelers. Each vessel carries no more than 200 guests, providing an intimate and personalized journey along some of America’s most scenic rivers. With a steadily expanding fleet of newly constructed vessels, the company is dedicated to delivering exceptional and memorable cruise adventures that showcase the rich history and beauty of the United States. American Cruise Lines prides itself on its commitment to excellence, reflected in its service culture driven by core values of optimism, commitment, patriotism, and merit. These values not only shape the company’s approach to service but also create a supportive and motivational workplace for its employees, inviting talented professionals to contribute to its mission to share America’s story on the finest American ships.

The Pastry Chef position at American Cruise Lines is an exciting opportunity for culinary professionals passionate about pastry arts and baking. This role is integral to the culinary team, responsible for creating a wide range of desserts, pastries, breads, and confectionary items that complement the daily menu offerings aboard the vessels. The ideal candidate for this role will possess a refined palate and a keen sense for flavor pairings, texture, and presentation aesthetics. Creativity and innovation are highly valued, as the Pastry Chef is expected to continuously research and experiment with new recipes to provide an exceptional dining experience for guests and crew members alike.

Living and working onboard provides a unique and dynamic environment where chefs enjoy comfortable quarters and access to well-equipped galleys with stunning views. The role requires adherence to high standards of food quality, safety, and presentation, following established procedures and FDA guidelines for food preparation and station maintenance. The Pastry Chef works closely with the Executive Chef to ensure timely production and inventory management of all baked goods, maintaining a steady supply of fresh products to meet the demands of each voyage.

This position offers a fulfilling culinary career for professionals looking to apply and expand their pastry expertise in an exclusive setting that values craftsmanship, service, and teamwork. American Cruise Lines offers an environment where your culinary skills will be showcased and appreciated while contributing to unparalleled guest experiences on America’s rivers. The company provides comprehensive benefits, including health, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k) with company match, and covers travel, room and board, uniforms, and training expenses, making this not only a rewarding career but a well-supported one as well.
