Serving over 29,500 students from all 50 states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, and 106 countries worldwide, Georgia Southern University embraces diversity and global perspectives. The University operates from three dynamic campuses: the Statesboro Campus, the Armstrong Campus in Savannah, and the Liberty Campus in Hinesville. Together, they foster an environment ripe with learning opportunities, discovery, and community engagement.
Georgia Southern University plays a vital role as an intellectual catalyst in southeast Georgia, an area known for its rapid economic expansion and home to many leading international companies, including Hyundai, Gulfstream, and JCB, alongside the Port of Savannah and Georgia Ports Authority. The University’s emphasis on hands-on learning directly supports the region’s growing demand for highly skilled professionals. It prides itself on academic excellence, innovative programs, and a supportive student-centered atmosphere aimed at empowering the next generation of leaders. Georgia Southern has received national recognition for its quality programs and student services, including being named one of the Best U.S. Colleges by The Wall Street Journal. Forbes has also recognized the University as one of "America's Best-In-State Employers" for 2025, reflecting its commitment to a positive work environment and employee development.
The Pastry Chef position is based at the Statesboro Campus within the Dining Commons department. This role is integral to Georgia Southern’s university dining operations, responsible for ensuring the preparation, baking, and presentation of high-quality desserts, pastries, breads, and other baked goods that meet the expectations of the university community and special events. The Pastry Chef manages bakery-related tasks such as recipe development, food safety compliance, inventory control, and staff training and mentoring. This position requires creativity, precision, and leadership to maintain consistency and excellence in every culinary creation.
The role offers a competitive hourly wage between $20.71 and $25.88 and is classified as a non-exempt position with biweekly pay. Emphasizing both culinary skill and team leadership, the Pastry Chef will collaborate closely with culinary leadership and event planners to innovate and refine the menu offerings.
