Job Description
Whole Foods Market is a renowned leader in the natural and organic foods industry, committed to nourishing people and the planet through high-quality products, sustainable practices, and community engagement. Founded in 1980, Whole Foods Market quickly grew to become one of the most trusted names in the grocery sector by emphasizing fresh, responsibly sourced foods that promote health and well-being. The company operates numerous stores across the United States and worldwide, each managed by passionate teams dedicated to delivering an exceptional shopping experience that aligns with Whole Foods Market's mission to make a positive impact on the environment and local communities.
Whole Foods Market is not just a grocery store; it is a vibrant workplace where employees find opportunities for personal growth, contribute to meaningful social causes, and participate in revolutionizing the grocery industry. The company's commitment extends beyond offering premium products, including supporting initiatives such as grants for school gardens, improving food access in underserved areas, and alleviating poverty in developing countries. This global perspective combined with a local focus makes working at Whole Foods Market an enriching and purposeful endeavor.
The Pastry Associate Team Leader position at Whole Foods Market plays a crucial role in overseeing the pastry production team to meet and exceed department goals. This leadership role involves managing daily operations related to pastry production, from monitoring inventory and purchase orders to ensuring that all baked goods meet stringent quality standards for freshness, appearance, and consistency. The Pastry Associate Team Leader leads by example, mentoring and training team members, writing accurate daily production lists, and creating effective work schedules within allocated labor budgets. Additionally, the role requires a hands-on approach to developing catering menus and recipes, maintaining productivity in both pastry and café teams, and ensuring timely production and delivery of food items.
Further responsibilities include compliance with food safety guidelines such as GMP, HACCP, and FSMA, meticulous documentation of waste, spoilage, and transfers, as well as participation in monthly inventory counts. The role demands strong analytical skills to monitor sales, margins, and labor, assisting the Team Leader in driving the department toward its financial and operational targets. In the absence of the Team Leader, the Pastry Associate Team Leader assumes full responsibility for the department.
This position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging between $25.20 and $43.14, commensurate with experience, and eligibility for Whole Foods Market's comprehensive "Whole Benefits" program. The benefits package includes store discounts, paid time off, financial wellness support, health and wellness programs, and other perks for full- and part-time team members. Whole Foods Market prides itself on fostering an inclusive work environment that promotes equal opportunity, diversity, and professional advancement. Joining as a Pastry Associate Team Leader means actively contributing to a team dedicated to making a difference in customers' lives and communities while advancing your career in an innovative and values-driven company.
